Hi, my name is Diane Smith! I am a registered nurse and Lamaze-certified childbirth educator, and founder of the The Women’s Place. I created this one-stop destination for women in Wilmington, NC to come together to exchange wisdom and whimsy under one roof.
As a longtime educator who previously developed childbirth, women’s health education, and lactation programming for a major hospital network, I know what women need to feel safe, healthy, and comfortable stepping into their role as new mothers.
I believe that every woman who is facing a major life decision has the right to learn as much as possible about her options and can learn how to make an informed decision. This is particularly important when making medical decisions, such as deciding where to give birth or how to manage menopause symptoms.
Childbirth and women’s health education offers women and their families the opportunity to learn all of their options in an unbiased, nonjudgmental environment. Childbirth, menopause, and other major changes in a woman’s life present challenges that are easier to navigate with knowledge and support from other women.
As you get a better feel for who we are, I hope that you will find your circle of belonging here at The Women’s Place, no matter what stage of life you are currently navigating. While you are here, I encourage you to check out our class.
