Our free Birth and Postpartum Planning Event features 3 experts who will discuss how to plan for your birth, breastfeeding and your post partum experience. Have you ever planned a big party or a wedding? Think about how much time and preparation you did for these events! Well, one of the most important events of our lives is the birth of a new baby. There are sooooo many things to plan for. Childbirth classes, breastfeeding classes, newborn care classes are usually on the ToDo list, but what about planning for your post partum experience? We tend to forget to plan for this important life change. Our experts will be here to help!

Our Experts

Diane Smith RN LCCE CLE and owner of The Woman’s Place will be talking about making birth choices and creating a birth preferences list. Diane has been working with families as a Lamaze and breastfeeding educator for many years. She has worked as a RN in a variety of birth settings. Her philosophy suggests that you should learn as much as possible about your birth options and evidence-based care, learn how to make important medical decisions and how to talk with your birth care provider about your preferences. Labor and birth is not really something you have a lot of control over, so it is important that you learn about all options and comfort measures so that you can be prepared for whatever labor and birth brings. So take the classes and learn to use your B.R.A.I.N to increase your confidence in your body and baby. Diane will be here to help!

Magy Cruz, Post Partum Doula and Breastfeeding Coach at HappyDoula4U specializes in caring for you during your post partum journey. Magy collaborates with Diane at The Woman’s Place to bring you these free monthly events and as our “feet on the street” when you need someone to come to your home for our services. Magy’s primary focus is being your Post Partum Doula and Breastfeeding Coach caring for you and your baby after birth. For this event, Magy will focus on planning for your post partum experience. She will help you decide what is important to you during this time and how to create a plan for your physical and emotional care and healing. She has wonderful tips and even some great recipes and can swaddle a baby like no other!

Cailey Rash is a Birth and Postpartum Doula with Babycakes Birth Services. Her mission is to advocate, empower, and support families welcoming new life into their piece of the world. At Babycakes Birth Service, Cailey provides birth and postpartum doula support to growing families before, during, and after delivery in Wilmington, NC, and the surrounding areas. Cailey offers continuous emotional, physical and educational support throughout the duration of the growing family’s birth experience. In-person and/or virtual support are available through the Cape Fear region. Cailey is very familiar with the services and options available at our hospital. She can be your advocate and help guide you through your birth experience.
