Join our certified parent educators for this free Practical Parent Education Kickoff at The Woman’s Place. It’s your chance to learn about the program, meet our educators and have input in our program development. Practical Parent Education was developed  in Plano, TX in the 1990s and is now a nationally known program that helps parents learn about so many parenting concerns from toddler through teen stages of parenting. There are about 30 different topics that are ready to go. Here are just some of the topics we will offer:

Understanding Your Role as a Parent- family systems, traits of healthy families, and being the primary role model for your child

Developing Trust Within Families– understanding attachment and bonding, building trust in the family, rebuilding trust that has been broken

Communication in the Family–  effective communication habits, expressing feelings, dealing with anger within the family, defusing family disagreements, developing social media responsibility

Building Self Esteem in the Family– valuing the child as an individual, encouraging your child’s growth in social skills, helping children make healthy life choices, understanding bullying, teaching kindness and respect

Understanding Parenting and Power– choosing effective discipline techniques, dealing with sibling rivalry, resolving homework issues, how early parenting patterns set a course for future parenting

Natural Transitions in the Family Life Cycle– understanding developmental stages, dealing with stress in the family, transitions into adolescence, strengthening the father/child relationship

Growing Through Unexpected Transitions– helping children cope with change and loss, single parenting, stepparenting, balancing parenting and a career
